More ATVs plunge into icy water; no one hurt

A conservation officer is among the latest to escape icy water without injury after his ATV broke through thin ice. Two other men survived a close call on Tuesday when their ATV tipped into open water on another lake. And they're far from the only ones to go under recently.

A DNR officer is among the latest ATV riders to fall into the water after his four-wheeler broke through thin ice on Lake of the Woods on Saturday.

The Fargo Forum reports the man was able to swim to the edge of the ice and pull himself out with ice picks.

He's hardly alone. Two others survived another close call on Tuesday when their ATV tipped into open water while towing a fish house on Dead Lake. That's the fourth ATV mishap in just five days in Otter Tail County, according to the Forum.
