More than two-dozen cattle killed in Meeker County farm fire
Up to 30 calves died in a fire about 80 miles west of the Twin Cities on Monday.
The Meeker County Sheriff's Office reports that the fire erupted – possibly from a welder – in a shop at a dairy farm on the 51000 block of 310th Street northwest of Grove City.
Authorities believe the blaze likely started "when a welder was in use," the sheriff's office said, adding that the 66-year-old owner of the shop lost all of the contents in the building in addition to 25-30 calves that were killed.
The fire was reported at 1:55 p.m. No further information has been released.
