Like a bad party guest, winter just doesn't know when to leave.

A spring snow shower made roads slick for Monday morning commuters in southeast Minnesota. Overnight snowfalls were reported in Winona, Preston and Rochester, MPR News reports.

Twenty-five school closings and delays were reported in the La Crosse area. Driving conditions were hazardous due to overnight snow and freezing rain, the La Crosse Tribune reported.

Travel was difficult around Rochester Monday morning, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.

More snow is expected this week through central Minnesota from Moorhead (a trace expected Wednesday) to St. Cloud (1 to 3 inches Wednesday) and Duluth, where there is a chance of snow Wednesday through Friday, the National Weather Service says.

For the Twin Cities, low temperatures will dip below freezing most of the week, with a high of just 38 degrees Monday. Metro forecast:

Tuesday: High 40, low 30. Mostly sunny, chance of precipitation after midnight.

Wednesday: High 42, low 26. Rain/snow likely, accumulation of less than 1 inch of snow possible.

Thursday: High 40, low 28. Mostly cloudy, chance of late precipitation 20 percent.
