Mother, daughter killed in head-on crash in Inver Grove Heights

A crash in Inver Grove Heights over the weekend claimed the lives of a woman and child. 

According to Inver Grove Heights Police Department, the crash happened around 7:30 a.m. Saturday on E. 80th St. at Bowman Ave. Police and paramedics arrived at the scene and found six people suffering from injuries from the two-vehicle crash.  

All six were transported to area hospitals, where a 39-year-old woman and 5-year-old child who were in one of the vehicles were pronounced dead. 

Two other children in the same vehicle and the driver and passenger in the other vehicle were all hospitalized with injuries. 

The Star Tribune reports that it was a head-on crash and the two people killed were a mother and daughter. The two other children are a 3-year-old and 3-month-old, the newspaper notes. 

Authorities have not released the identities of anyone involved. 

The Minnesota State Patrol is assisting with crash reconstruction to determine the cause of the crash.
