Mother dies, 3-year-old injured in single-vehicle crash

A young mother died and her 3-year-old child was injured in single-vehicle crash on Wednesday morning. 

According to the Stearns County Sheriff's Office, the accident happened just after 9 a.m. when a 29-year-old woman driving an unidentified vehicle east on Hwy. 10 left the road just before the intersection with Main Ave. in Clear Lake. 

The vehicle crashed into a sign, at which point the woman was fatally ejected from the vehicle. 

The sheriff's office has identified her as Kayla Michelle Phaneuf, of East Bethel. Her 3-year-old child was taken to St. Cloud Hospital with minor injuries.
