Motorcycle crash in Montevideo leaves 1 dead Wednesday night

The police say they responded to a "motorcycle collision and fire."

A 27-year-old man died in a motorcycle crash in western Minnesota on Wednesday. 

Montevideo Police Department reports that the crash happened around 9:35 p.m. at 2nd St. and Black Oak Ave. in Montevideo, with the motorcycle traveling off of 2nd St. across the boulevard and into a yard. 

Details about what happened aren't completely clear, but the police department described the crash as a "motorcycle collision and fire." 

The motorcyclist has been identified as Mario Isaac Salazar, 27, of Montevideo. He was transported to Chippewa County Montevideo Hospital where he was pronounced dead. 

It's unclear if he was wearing a helmet. 

The Midwest Medical Examiner's Office in Anoka is conducting an autopsy.
