Motorcyclist dies after being thrown from bike north of Twin Cities

A motorcyclist was killed after being thrown from his bike after a crash on Sunday.

The crash was reported at 6:34 p.m. by a passerby, who found the crashed motorcycle at 249th Avenue Northwest and Zion Street Northwest in Stanford Township, Isanti County.

When responders arrived, they found the rider lying in a ditch, unresponsive.

CPR was performed and the rider was airlifted to North Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

He's been identified as 53-year-old Tad Demmon, of Isanti.

Police say that Demmon had been westbound on 249th Avenue Northwest and went off the road at a curve at Zion Street Northwest.

The motorcycle then rolled into the ditch, throwing Demmon from his seat.

There have been 71 fatalities on Minnesota roads in 2019, slightly more than the 68 at the same time of the year in 2018.
