Motorcyclist dies after colliding with concrete barrier on Interstate 35 in Duluth

The 32-year-old was not wearing a helmet, according to the State Patrol.

Authorities have identified a 32-year-old Minnesotan who died in a motorcycle crash in Duluth early Sunday morning. 

According to the Minnesota State Patrol, Ryan Scott Mathisen, of Hermantown, was driving a 2006 Yamaha YP400 north on Interstate 35 when the motorcycle hit a cement wall near Lake Ave.

The motorcycle was traveling at a high rate of speed at the time of the crash, and the impact ejected Mathisen from the bike.

The crash happened just after 2 a.m. Mathisen was not wearing a helmet and it's unknown if alcohol was a factor, according to the crash report.  

The Duluth Police Department and Minnesota Department of Transportation assisted at the scene.
