Motorcyclist dies in Minneapolis after leaving road, hitting tree

A motorcyclist was killed in north Minneapolis Thursday afternoon when their bike left the road and struck a tree.

The incident happened on the 5100 block of Humboldt Avenue North at 2:21 p.m., with police arriving to find a man in his 30s "lying on the ground lifeless."

He was declared dead at the scene by paramedics.

Minneapolis PD says officers learned that two motorcyclists were northbound on the street when one left the road and hit the tree, causing him to be thrown from the bike.

"The other motorcyclist stopped and provide information to responding officers," police said.

The victim's identity will be released at a later date.
