Motorcyclist dies after high-speed crash in Maple Grove
A motorcyclist was killed after crashing into a turning SUV in Maple Grove Tuesday evening.
The crash was reported at 8:17 p.m. when an SUV turning onto eastbound Bass Lake Road from Jewel Lane was hit by a motorcycle westbound on Bass Lake Road.
The bike was "traveling at a high rate of speed," Maple Grove PD said.
The motorcyclist was taken to a nearby hospital after lifesaving efforts at the scene, but died a short time later in hospital.
The driver and passenger in the SUV were not injured.
The victim has been identified by family as 28-year-old Rico Sisombath, of Hamel, Minnesota, according to the Star Tribune.
His sister, Rachel, wrote on Facebook: "Last night I lost my first friend, my protector and my big brother ... I love you so much my Angel."
