Motorcyclist killed in crash with SUV in Wright County
A motorcyclist was killed in a crash with an SUV in Wright County over the weekend.
According to the Wright County Sheriff's Office, William Scott II, 51, of St. Bonifacius, was riding a motorcycle south on County Road 17 Southeast near 110 Street Southeast in Franklin Township when an SUV pulled out in front of the motorcycle around 6:28 p.m. on June 13.
When sheriff's deputies arrived, they found Scott and the motorcycle on the ground near the intersection. He was transported to the hospital, where he later died.
The driver of the SUV, a 52-year-old Watertown man, was not injured.
The crash is still under investigation.
Between January and May of this year, 111 people have been killed in traffic-related crashes on Minnesota roads, the state Office of Traffic Safety says. Of the 111 fatalities, nine were motorcyclists.
Last year during the same time span, 109 people were killed on roads in the state.
