Motorcyclist killed in collision with deer in northern Minnesota

The single rider was pronounced dead at the scene.

A motorcyclist has died in northern Minnesota after colliding with a deer.

The incident happened at 8 p.m. Friday on Hwy. 44 Brimson Road in St. Louis County.

The St. Louis County says it responded to a report of a motorcycle vs. deer crash, and arrived to find the lone male rider of the motorcycle had died from his injuries.

He was pronounced dead at the scene, with his identity currently being withheld until his family has been notified.

The St. Louis County Sheriff's Office and Brimson Fire Department both responded to the scene.

There have been 121 deaths on Minnesota roads so far this year, compared to 125 this time last year.

We're currently in what the Minnesota Department of Public Safety calls the "100 most deadly days" on state roads, covering the period between Memorial Day and Labor Day.
