Abby Schanfield of Minneapolis, Minn., will be among those who sit near First Lady Michelle Obama during the State of the Union address on Tuesday, the Star Tribune reports.

The recent University of Minnesota graduate was born with a rare congenital disease and has suffered several medical issues along the way.

The newspaper spoke with Schanfield last June after the U.S. Supreme Court upheld President Barack Obama's federal health care reform.

She credits the Affordable Care Act for allowing her stay on her parents' policy until she's 26. The new law also aims to prevent insurance companies from turning away patients who have preexisting conditions.
