Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport will soon be the first airport in the United States to offer an Escape Lounge – a luxury lounge open for travelers no matter the airline they're flying.

The Metropolitan Airports Commission (MAC) announced Wednesday that a $2 million, 5,000-square-foot lounge will open in Terminal 1 (Lindbergh) by the end of the year, featuring free WiFi, complimentary food and drink options, reading materials and a "comfortable and quiet atmosphere".

Unlike other airport lounges in the U.S. that are exclusive to passengers flying certain airlines, all travelers will have access to MSP's Escape Lounge for about $45 a day, MAC notes. (There may be a minimum age to get into the lounge at MSP – but that age hasn't been set yet, the Star Tribune says.)

"We are proud to be the first U.S. airport to offer an Escape Lounge, an amenity that has proven popular among travelers overseas," Jeff Hamiel, Executive Director and CEO of the MAC, said in the announcement.

Manchester Airports Group (MAG), which owns some of the largest airports in the United Kingdom, will design and operate the lounge. It currently operates five other Escape Lounges in the U.K.
