It's National Donut Day! Here's where you can get a free one to celebrate

Free. Donuts.

Who doesn't love a free donut?

To celebrate National Donut Day (it got its start from the Salvation Army's Donut Lassies, who gave soldiers free donuts and coffee during World War I), many shops are giving away free treats.

Here's a list:

The Minnesota History Center: Along with free donuts from YoYo Donuts and Coffee Bar, the center is opening early at 7 a.m. There will also be live music, WWI stories from humorist Kevin Kling and people can enjoy the History Center's WWI America exhibit.

Mojo Monkey Donuts in St. Paul: The first 200 people at the store will get a free donut (doors open at 6 a.m.), Visit St. Paul says.

Cub Foods: Every customer will get one free donut.

Dunkin' Donuts: You can get a free classic donut if you buy a beverage.

Krispy Kreme: You get your free pick of any donut.

Tim Hortons: Buy a coffee and mention "National Donut Day," you could get a free donut, Bustle says.

SuperAmerica: If you show this tweet, you can get a free donut.

KwikTrip: Text "DONUT" to 77887 to get a free donut.

If you're looking for more places to celebrate, the Salvation Army has a list of other shops in the area that have deals on tasty treats.
