'Neighbor from hell' pleads guilty to restraining order violation

A woman from White Bear Lake who has drawn national media attention as a "neighbor from hell" on Monday pleaded guilty to violating a restraining order, the latest milestone in a long battle she has waged with residents across the street.

Lori E. Christensen, 50, has a history of abuse of the Hoffman family, the family says, including calling police and city inspectors – on one occasion on a false report about a car with a flat tire in a driveway, and another time because she said paper blew in her yard, the Star Tribune reports.

Christensen has been accused of other transgressions, the Star Tribune notes: mocking a neighbor who is a recovering alcoholic, making fun of the alcoholism during the birthday celebration of the woman's son, posting huge signs on her garage door insulting her neighbors, and lifting her shirt to flash her neighbors. She's been harassing her neighbors for five years, FOX 9 reports.

In the latest development, Christensen on Monday admitted to a judge that she was guilty of violating the restraining order by videotaping her neighbor’s home and car.

Christensen’s plea agreement allows her to avoid a trial, KARE 11 reports. The deal requires community service and 10 years probation, the Star Tribune reports. She also must steer clear of the neighborhood and cannot contact the Hoffman family for 10 years, the Star Tribune reports. A sentencing date has been set for Sept. 11.

“It’s been a long road and just to have this behind us is so big,” Greg Hoffman said, WCCO reported.

Christensen has drawn the interest of several national media outlets. Here the Hoffmans speculate on ABC's "20/20" what they think motivated Chirstensen's behavior:
