Minnesota's online health insurance marketplace, MNsure, has named a new vendor to overhaul overhaul its troubled website and computer systems.

Deloitte Consulting LLP’s contract is worth $4.95 million and will run for nine months, WCCO reports.

MNsure spokeswoman Jenni Bowring-McDonough says details of Deloitte's plans will be presented to MNsure's board of directors Wednesday afternoon.

New York-based Deloitte was one of the original bidders for the contract to build the exchange, but Deloitte wanted $20 million more than the state was willing to pay. The contract went instead to Reston Va.-based Maximus Inc.

Technical problems marred the launch of the exchange last October and persisted for months, frustrating thousands of health insurance shoppers.

The Star Tribune reports Deloitte will take over program and project management, project planning, functional and technical systems assessment, defect and issue tracking and help with leadership and planning of user testing, according to the state.

Six other companies also bid on the contract.

In a statement, MNsure’s interim CEO, Scott Leitz said “I am confident in our decision to retain Deloitte as we continue our efforts to improve the consumer experience with MNsure, with an eye toward the next open enrollment period.”
