A new poll shows President Donald Trump is closer to former Vice President Joe Biden in Minnesota than a recent FOX News poll.
The Morning Consult Political Intelligence poll, published Tuesday, has Biden leading in Minnesota by 3 percentage points, with 47 percent saying they'll vote for the former VP, while 44 percent say they plan to vote for Trump.
That's within the 3.8 percent margin of error for the poll.
The Trump campaign has identified Minnesota as a possible pickup opportunity this November after he lost to Hillary Clinton in 2016 by 1.5 percent. And according to this poll at least, his chances are improving. In May, the Morning Consult Political Intelligence poll had Biden leading by 8 points.
Nationally, the poll has Biden gaining ground in key battleground states, including in Florida and Texas and other states Trump won in 2016. Biden is ahead by 8 points among likely voters, up from a 3- to 5-point lead throughout much of May.
The FOX News poll that was released last week has 51 percent of registered voters in Minnesota planning to vote for Biden compared to 38 percent who say they'll vote for Trump. Nationally, that poll has Biden with a 12-point lead over Trump.
The Morning Consult Political Intelligence poll is based in the survey if between 600 and 3,760 people in 12 states between July 17-26, with the respondents in each state weighted to "reflect a representative sample of voters."
The FOX News poll was conducted around the same time and has a 3.5 percent margin of error.
