The NFL mock drafts really sucked this year

Especially the mocks from Kiper and McShay.

Mock draft madness is finally over after Thursday's first round of the NFL Draft unfolded with surprise after surprise.

While the mocks make for great entertainment and speculation, one trade – like the Bears moving up one spot to grab Mitchell Trubisky – can throw off the entire order, thus making the mocks look stupid.

So let's take a look at how some of the big name prognosticators did.

ESPN's Mel Kiper Jr. and Todd McShay – the golden boys of draft speculation – both misfired on the first overall pick. They had the Browns taking quarterback Mitchell Trubisky when everyone else on the planet predicted the right guy, defensive end Myles Garrett.

Bleacher Report's Matt Miller said "it seems like a foregone conclusion" that Chidobe Awuzie will "hear his name called on Day 1." And 99 percent of the world still doesn't know who that guy is because he didn't get picked.

According to SB Nation, NFL Network's Mike Mayock was the runaway winner last year when he hit on eight of the first 12 picks – more than double what Kiper and McShay got.

The best this year? Mayock again who, along with a few others, were right on a measly five picks.

Here's a look at the picks seven of the most respected (lol) mock drafters got right.

ESPN's Mel Kiper Jr.

  • Leonard Fournette to the Jaguars at No. 4
  • Christian McCaffrey to the Panthers at No. 8
  • Jarrad Davis to the Lions at No. 21

ESPN's Todd McShay

  • Leonard Fournette to the Jaguars at No. 4
  • Christian McCaffrey to the Panthers at No. 8
  • Deshaun Watson to the Texans (at the wrong pick).

NFL Network's Daniel Jeremiah

  • Myles Garrett to the Browns at No. 1
  • Leonard Fournette to the Jaguars at No. 4
  • Haasan Reddick to the Cardinals at No. 13
  • Derek Barnett to the Eagles at No. 14
  • Jarrad Davis to the Lions at No. 21

NFL Network's Mike Mayock

  • Myles Garrett to the Browns at No. 1
  • Leonard Fournette to the Jaguars at No. 4
  • Christian McCaffrey to the Panthers at No. 8
  • Adoree' Jackson to the Titans at No. 18
  • Deshaun Watson to the Texans (at the wrong pick)

The MMQB's Peter King

  • Myles Garrett to the Browns at No. 1
  • Leonard Fournette to the Jaguars at No. 4
  • Christian McCaffrey to the Panthers at No. 8
  • Deshaun Watson to the Texans (at the wrong pick)
  • Patrick Mahomes to the Chiefs (at the wrong pick)

King was at least accurate in assuming the Texans would have to trade up to get Watson.

The MMQB's Albert Breer

  • Myles Garrett to the Browns at No. 1
  • Mike Williams to the Chargers at No. 7
  • Christian McCaffrey to the Panthers at No. 8
  • Patrick Mahomes to the Chiefs (at the wrong pick)

Bleacher Report's Matt Miller

  • Myles Garrett to the Browns at No. 1
  • Leonard Fournette to the Jaguars at No. 4
  • Christian McCaffrey to the Panthers at No. 8
  • Jarrad Davis to the Lions at No. 21
