North Mankato swimming pool closes due to possible COVID-19 exposure

The Spring Lake Park Swim Facility in North Mankato has closed Thursday after one or more staff members may have been exposed to COVID-19.

In the announcement, the city said it is investigating the situation but does not believe the incident caused widespread exposure among staff or guests.

North Mankato City Administrator John Harrenstein said the city is working with public health officials to determine who may have exposed and any potential risk

“We will be working closely with our partners in the medical community and Public Health to ensure a thorough investigation and follow up," Harrenstein said in a statement. "I am confident we are proceeding in the best interests of our residents, pool guests and staff members."

According to the city’s website, the pool will be closed through Saturday. The pool includes two large water slides, a climbing wall and a toddler area. 

Guidance form the Minnesota Department of Health states that pools may be open at 50% capacity with up to 250 swimmers.
