NYC Marathon called off: Hudson woman will run at home instead
Hurricane Sandy forced New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg to call off Sunday's New York City Marathon, but a Hudson, Wis., woman will run anyway, the Pioneer Press reported.
Angie Dove Hatch says she will run her own marathon Sunday morning, which will begin at her doorstep and end at Lakefront Park in downtown Hudson.
Hatch, 41, told the Pioneer Press that the 26.2-mile run in New York City was going to be her first full marathon and that she was doing it to raise money and awareness for Washington D.C.- based nonprofit Joint Council on International Children's Services.
Bloomberg called off the marathon Friday in the wake of the devastation done to the city and East Coast after the superstorm earlier this week.
