Officers responding to Lindstrom apartment fire find woman dead inside
A woman was found dead by police officers who were responding to a report of a fire at an apartment in an east-central Minnesota town Wednesday afternoon.
According to the Lakes Area Police Department, the fire was reported to be coming from an apartment located on the 122200 block of Lake Lane in Lindstrom just before 3 p.m.
Officers arrived to find the apartment consumed by heavy smoke from a small fire, in addition to finding a woman who was dead inside the apartment. She is believed to have been the only person in the apartment.
Authorities have not said if the fire or smoke played a role in her death. Her identity and cause of death will be released at a later date by a medical examiner.
Damage from the fire was contained to the single apartment.
No foul play is suspected.
