Police opened fire on a suspect who was fleeing on foot after a 100 mph chase in Shakopee on Saturday.

The incident is under investigation by the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, which said that it started when a driver traveling 100 mph on westbound I-494 near Dodd Road in Mendota Heights around 11:30 a.m.

He passed a Minnesota State Trooper, who gave chase through several cities and was later joined by Burnsville police officers.

The pursuit then ended in Shakopee, where the driver crashed on southbound Hwy. 169, near Eagle Creek Boulevard.

The man then fled the vehicle sparking a foot pursuit. During the course of the pursuit, two officers opened fire. The suspect was not struck by any bullets.

He was eventually taken into custody on the 1300 block of Pine Tree Lane, and is expected to be booked into jail on outstanding felony warrants.

It's not been made clear if the suspect was armed at all.

The incident sparked the temporary closure of a lane on southbound Hwy. 169 on Saturday afternoon.

The BCA is investigating if any dash cam or body camera video was captured.
