Officials investigate abduction report in western Minn.

State officials are investigating what could have been an abduction of a female of unknown age in western Minnesota, the Associated Press reports.

The Bureau of Criminal Apprehension issued a crime alert that the person was abducted by at least three people in a dark sport utility vehicle in Appleton, Minn., at about 8 p.m. Monday, the AP reports. Appleton is about 150 miles west of Minneapolis, near the South Dakota border. The vehicle was seen heading south on Highway 7.

Attempted abduction reported in Albertville
