All Herberger's stores in the country closed their doors for good on Friday, but it might not be all over for the retailer.

"We've got great news," a message on the website's homepage says. "Herberger's is coming back!"

There is no further information other than that, with Herberger's telling people to "stay tuned for updates over the coming weeks."

"We appreciate your loyalty and look forward to being able to serve you again soon," it adds.

The company's owners, the Bon-Ton Stores Inc., filed for bankruptcy in April and announced that it would close all 250 Herberger's and Younkers stores across the country, including 21 in Minnesota.

The closures were extended to the end of August, having initially been slated for June, but as of Friday all stores that were still open were shut for good.

Herberger's 21 Minnesota stores included six in the Twin Cities: In Blaine, Bloomington, Edina, Maplewood, St. Paul and Stillwater.
