One dead, five injured in Mantorville apartment building fire
One person died, another is critical, and four more people were injured in an apartment building fire in Mantorville, southeastern Minnesota.
The incident happened at a 12-unit building at 507 Chestnut Street, which was reported at 6:37 a.m.
The Dodge County Sheriff's Office says 911 callers told police they were trying to get people out of the building, with several residents also calling saying they were trapped inside.
Police went into the building and were able to get 5 people out initially, with firefighters arriving a short time after to help get the rest out.
All occupants were accounted for, but one suffered fatal injuries, while a further five had to be transported to St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, one of whom is in a critical condition.
The State Fire Marshal is investigating the fire.
