Rescuers are searching for a man who went into the water after the SUV he was in went off the road and into the Mississippi River early Friday, KSTP reports.

The incident happened around 1:30 a.m., FOX 9 says, along the Mississippi River in Ramsey, Minnesota. Officials with the Anoka County sheriff's Office told the station the men appeared to drive around a house and into the water, but it's unclear why. Police say alcohol may have been a factor.

According to KSTP, police say two men were in the vehicle at the time. One man was rescued, the other climbed onto the top of the car and went into the water, the station reports.

KSTP says the truck is in 3-4 feet of water.

WCCO reports the search was called off around 6 a.m. with one person still missing.

A rash of recent incidents involving people or vehicles breaking through ice has led to warnings about ice safety.

Multiple rescues involving persons trapped on ice floes prompted the Coast Guard to issue a warning.

Earlier this week a man died after falling through thin ice on a pond in Burnsville. The Dakota County Sheriff's Chief Deputy Tim Leslie said he incident should serve as a reminder that residents shouldn’t try to walk or drive on the ice at this point.

And last week, two brothers' trucks broke through the ice on a lake in Wisconsin, when one got stuck and the other tried to rescue him. Both made it out OK.
