A glitch with the Best Buy website allowed eagled-eyed shoppers to snap up gift cards worth $200 for just $15 Tuesday night – unfortunately, they won't get to use them.

Time reports that a technical problem with the Minneapolis-based retailer's website appeared on Tuesday night, and was spotted by some shoppers who shared their windfall on Reddit.

The magazine notes that a "number of nocturnal opportunists" had taken advantage of the offer in the short time it took to be fixed.

But a Best Buy spokesperson told the Star Tribune: "Everyone makes mistakes and, unfortunately, we made one last night. We regret the error and we are canceling all pending orders on the affected gift cards."

The newspaper notes, however, that the company's wording of its statement suggest that some orders made using the gift cards may have made it through. It has not commented on how long the glitch lasted and how many gift cards were bought.

Reddit users expected that their purchases would not be honored, with "waitforben" posting: "I am an employee of Best Buy, and we are very good at honoring our mistakes, however, mistakes this public with 1000s of people ordering something super discounted by mistake will most likely get canceled. In the meantime, I went ahead and ordered two, but chances are, we're all getting a refund."
