The organs of an Otter Tail County teen who died after accidentally shooting himself will go on to help save other people's lives, his family says.

Levi Roggenkamp, 14, was playing with a revolver at his Wadena home Thursday when it went off and shot him in the head. He died Friday at North Memorial Hospital in Robbinsdale, WDAY says.

A few years ago, Levi told his cousin he was willing to be an organ donor if anything happened to him, Fergus Falls Journal reports.

“It was a relief that he had already decided [to donate his organs],” Levi’s mother, Tina, told the newspaper.

Now, at least five people will receive a second chance at life, including an 11-month-old girl who got Levi's liver, the newspaper says.

“It doesn’t relieve any pain that I have,” Al Roggenkamp, Levi’s grandfather, told the newspaper. “But it deadened the pain a little bit because I know all these other people are benefiting by our loss.”

The identities of the people who received Levi's organs will remain private for the next year, but after that the family does plan to keep in touch with the organ recipients if they accept.

His family is encouraging anyone attending his funeral on Thursday to wear camouflage and western clothing to celebrate the things he loved in life.

Levi loved anything to do with the outdoors, including hunting, boating and fishing, according to his obituary on the Karvonen Funeral Home website. He also loved country music and outdoor chores – one of his favorite quotes was "Don't worry, I will fix it."
