Orono police warn of women's drinks being drugged

Multiple reports have come from Orono-area establishments.

Authorities in Orono are urging women to stay close to their beverages at local bars and restaurants.

"We’ve received a few reports regarding women’s drinks possibly getting drugged at local establishments," Orono police said in a tweet.

Police did not say which local establishments the reports came from or what type of drug was used, but Sgt. Chad Stensrud tells BMTN that the reports have come in the past two weeks.

Fortunately, no sexual assaults have been reported in connection to the claims.

"Just general reminder for those out at places that serve alcohol to be aware," another tweet from Orono PD said. "Definitely not a common occurrence around our area."

Orono PD used the hashtag "pathetic" on Twitter, and warned the "cowards" doing this that they've started a dads with daughters committee they "will have to answer to."
