North Mankato police arrested an 18-year-old who witnesses said brandished a foot-long soccer goal stake and threatened his coach, including a vow to "butcher" him, the Mankato Free Press reports.

Nasir Mohamed Abdalla, of North Mankato, was still being held in jail on a felony assault charge Wednesday after the Saturday incident, the newspaper reported.

Abdalla was booted from a teen league team last year for behavior issues, coaches said, but he was allowed to rejoin the squad this year, the Free Press reports. But he had again been kicked off the team a week ago for trying to fight an opposing player, his coaches said.

Witnesses said Abdalla on Saturday threatened the coach, but other players pulled him away from the coach and police officers were called, the Free Pres reports.
