A killer remains on the loose after an overnight stabbing in Chisago County.

The sheriff's office reports that deputies and North Branch police officers were dispatched to a residence on Joywood Ave. in Sunrise Township – about 5 miles northeast of North Branch – on a report of a stabbing at 2:18 a.m. Friday.

Deputies and officers arrived at the scene to find a male victim. Lakes Region EMS took over life-saving efforts and transported the victim to a nearby open area where the male died at the landing zone while awaiting arrival of a Life Link III medical helicopter.

The suspected killer, who has not been identified, fled the scene before authorities arrived. The victim also hasn't been identified due to an ongoing investigation, which is being assisted by the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension.
