A 27-year-old Owatonna man is accused of fatally shooting another man outside the Village Market shopping mall in Minneapolis on Monday.
Mubarak Musse is charged with second-degree murder in connection to the death of Hamze Bille Mohamed, 26, of Minneapolis, on March 15.
According to the criminal complaint, police responded to a report of a shooting at the Village Market building at 912 24th St. E at 3:17 p.m.
Police found the victim dead on the ground with 15 discharged cartridge casings near him, charges state. The medical examiner's office says Mohamed died of multiple gunshot wounds.
Surveillance footage from the mall showed Musse and the victim getting into an argument inside the building before they moved going outside, where they got into a physical fight. That's when Musse pulled out a handgun and shot him several times, even after he fell to the ground, charges say.
Musse at 4:56 p.m. contacted police and turned himself in. In an interview with police, he admitted to being the shooter and identified himself in surveillance photos.
Musse made his first court appearance on Thursday and is being held in Hennepin County Jail.
