Passenger dies in single-vehicle crash on Interstate 90 in southeast Minnesota

The crash happened just before 3:30 a.m. Monday.

A passenger involved in a single-vehicle crash in southeast Minnesota died early Monday. 

According to the Minnesota State Patrol, the crash happened just prior to 3:30 a.m. in New Hartford Township in Winona County. 

The report says the driver of a 2006 Chevrolet Express G1500 was traveling east on Interstate 90 when he left the roadway crashed near Milepost 270. 

The passenger, identified as Dennis Allen Williams, 74, of Elroy, Wisconsin, was pronounced dead at the scene. The State Patrol says he was not wearing a seat belt. 

The driver of the vehicle, a 69-year-old woman from Elroy, was taken to a hospital with injuries that are not life-threatening. 

What caused the driver to leave the roadway was not identified in the crash report.
