A man was struck by a bullet shot at a Metro Mobility bus in Shakopee on Monday.

Shakopee Police say the Metro Transit bus was traveling in the area of Stagecoach Road and the Highway 169 bus ramp when it was struck by a bullet at around 2:15 p.m.

The bullet hit the sole passenger on the bus, a 45-year-old man from Savage, who was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center.

His injuries are not thought to be serious. He was alert and conscious when police arrived.

Police are now trying to figure out whether the shooting was an accident or deliberate.

A state patrol helicopter was brought in to assist officers from Shakopee, Savage, Scott County and Metro Transit to search for the shooter, but couldn't find any suspects.

Police are now searching through camera footage and have issued a public appeal for information. Anyone with information can call 952-233-9400 or text the word "spdtips" to 847411.

Metro Mobility is a public transportation service for riders who are unable to use regular fixed-route bus services because of disability or a health condition, with riders calling Metro Transit to schedule their trips.
