Passerby leaps onto moving semi, stops it after driver fell unconscious

The incident happened in St. Cloud Thursday morning.

A passerby steered a semi truck to safety in St. Cloud after its driver lost consciousness at the wheel.

The incident happened Thursday around 11:45 a.m., with St. Cloud PD receiving a report of a semi driving northbound in the southbound lane of 9th Avenue North.

The driver had suffered a medical emergency, with the vehicle said to be traveling at idling speed on the street.

A passerby was then able to jump into the cab of the semi, and steer it into the curb.

No other vehicles were struck in the incident and nobody was injured.

The driver, a 65-year-old St. Cloud man, was taken to St. Cloud Hospital, where his condition is unknown as of Friday morning.
