Paulsen mulling Senate run against Franken?

The U.S. Senate seat currently held by Democratic Sen. Al Franken is apparently on the mind of Republican U.S. Rep. Erik Paulsen -- but whether he'll challenge Franken for it is yet to be seen.

According to Minnesota Public Radio, Paulsen said twice in the same interview by MPR that he was not interested in running against Franken in 2014.

"No, that's ridiculous," he told MPR.

But in an interview with The Hill on Thursday, the 3rd District representative addressed the idea again, and appeared to have warmed to the idea.

"I am planning on just continuing to represent my district right now," Paulsen told The Hill. "I haven’t ruled anything out."

Paulsen added that he "just staying focused" on his district.

The Republican Party is reportedly looking for a strong Senate candidate after Democratic Sen. Amy Klobuchar's easily defeated GOP state House Rep. Kurt Bills in November.

MPR noted one indication that Paulsen is mulling a Senate run: The URL redirects traffic to the representative's congressional website PaulsenForCongress.
