An elderly woman died in a hospital two days after being struck by a vehicle in a Cub Foods parking lot.

Renee Fellman, of Brooklyn Park, was struck by a vehicle outside the Cub at 7555 West Broadway just after 9 a.m. on Sept. 16.

At the time, she was conscious and alert following the collision, but was taken to the hospital having suffered a head injury.

She died on Wednesday, Sept. 18, with the Hennepin County Medical Examiner's Office ruling her death as the result of blunt force head trauma.

"An investigation was conducted into the accident and it was determined no criminal charges would be pursued against the driver," Brooklyn Park PD said.

There have been 263 fatalities on Minnesota roads so far in 2019, more than the 255 at the same time last year.

There were concerns raised earlier this year about a disproportionate number of pedestrian deaths in the first third of 2019, when 17 pedestrians were killed out of the first 100 deaths.
