Pedestrian crash closes Highway 55 in west metro Friday morning

Highway 55 in the west metro was closed for a few hours Friday morning because of a crash involving a pedestrian.

It happened at County Road 6 around, just southeast of Plymouth, around 4:30 a.m., MnDOT says.

According to the State Patrol, the pedestrian was trying to cross Highway 55, and was walking outside of the crosswalk. That person was then hit by a westbound Dodge Dakota.

The crash was fatal. Neither the pedestrian nor the driver of the pickup have been identified.

The westbound lanes of Highway 55 were closed for a few hours, only opening again at about 7:30 a.m.
