A pedestrian was killed when they were struck by a driver in Columbia Heights Wednesday night.

The crash occurred at the intersection of 42nd Avenue and Central Avenue Northeast, with officers responding just before 10 p.m.

The man, who had been struck by a vehicle in the northbound lane, was pronounced dead on arrival.

The driver, a 21-year-old man, is cooperating with law enforcement, according to the Anoka County Sheriff’s Department.

Alcohol is not believed to be a contributing factor in the case, which remains under investigation.

The northbound lanes of Central Avenue were temporarily closed while the scene was attended to.
