The search is on for two vehicles that may have been involved in a deadly hit-and-run in Maplewood this weekend.
The crash happened at about 8:30 p.m. Saturday on the 1200 block of Lakewood Drive North.
According to a press release from the Maplewood Police Department, first responders found the victim in the road and began lifesaving efforts, but the person was pronounced dead at the scene:
Though the press release doesn't include a description of the vehicle that hit the victim, police believe it likely has "heavy front end damage," while a witness reporting seeing a second vehicle that apparently "witnessed the incident, pulled over briefly, then left the scene."
That car was described as a black sedan being driven by a male.
Police are asking for the public for help finding either the striking vehicle or the witness vehicle. Anyone with information is urged to contact Sgt. Joe Steiner at 651-249-2608 or Joe.Steiner@maplewoodmn.gov.
