Pedestrian killed by hit-and-run driver outside Target in Blaine
A pedestrian has died after being struck by a driver who then fled the scene in Blaine.
The collision was reported at 11:34 p.m. Wednesday outside the Super Target store at 1500 109th Ave. NE.
Police arrived to find a pedestrian who had been involved in a hit-and-run, and transported them to Mercy Hospital, where they were pronounced dead a short time later.
The Anoka County Sheriff's Office said that the suspect was later found by deputies, and taken into custody after a foot pursuit.
The investigation is still active, with Blaine Police Department, Midwest Medical Examiners Office, and the Anoka County Sheriff’s Office all involved.
The victim's identity and cause of death will be released at a later stage.
