A man who was hit by a car in Bloomington over a week ago has died.

Gene Johnson, 70, was struck at the intersection of Lyndale Ave. S. and 86th Street W. on the night of October 10.

He was hospitalized at Hennepin Healthcare, where he succumbed to his injuries on Friday afternoon, a news release from the county medical examiner says.

The medical examiner says Bloomington Police are still investigating the accident, so few official details are available.

However, according to the Star Tribune, witnesses reported Johnson was "walking near the median in the dark outside of the crosswalk" when he was hit.

The paper says the driver of the car had the green light, and has been cooperating with authorities.

The number of traffic-related fatalities in Minnesota for the year (so far) is now approaching 285, according to the latest statistics from MnDOT.

The final tally of road deaths for 2018 was 381.
