The woman critically injured after being struck by a possibly impaired driver in St. Paul on Friday evening has died.

The St. Paul Police Department confirmed on Saturday afternoon that pedestrian hit when crossing West 7th Street died at Regions Hospital.

The driver of the vehicle that hit her, a 19-year-old girl, has been booked into Ramsey County Jail for probable cause criminal vehicular operation.

Police had earlier said she might have been impaired at the time of the crash, which happened near the intersection with South Homer Street at 8:15 p.m.

BMTN does not typically name those accused of crimes until they have been charged.

The police investigation continues.

A woman is in a critical condition at Regions Hospital after she was struck by a possibly impaired driver in St. Paul.

The collision happened at West 7th Street and South Homer Street around 8:15 p.m. on Friday.

The woman crossing 7th at Homer was hit by a vehicle going westbound on 7th, with a 19-year-old woman behind the wheel.

The pedestrian was taken to Regions with life-threatening injuries.

St. Paul police say the teenage driver is in custody, with preliminary information indicating she was under the influence of a controlled substance.

The investigation is ongoing.
