Person dies after drowning incident in river near Hastings
A rash of water deaths to start July includes a man dying in an incident in the water where the St. Croix and Mississippi rivers meet near Hastings on Monday.
The drowning was reported around 5:30 p.m. at 14500 Point Douglas Drive in northeast Hastings, according to the Washington County Sheriff's Office.
Deputies from the department and a water patrol team arrived and within minutes located and transported the 38-year-old from Brooklyn Park to shore via a small boat.
Deputies and Hastings Fire/EMS performed resuscitation efforts before the person was taken to Regions Hospital in St. Paul, where the victim died.
The 38-year-old's full identity has not been released.
Over the weekend, a 28-year-old drowned while retrieving a bobber on a central Minnesota, and a body was recovered from Lake Marion in Lakeville.
On July 1, a man drowned while swimming in Lake Minnetonka, which followed a jet ski accident on Lake Minnetonka that was fatal for a teenager.
