Floyd died after being handcuffed at 38th and Chicago, and since his death on May 25, those paying tribute to Floyd have built a memorial at the site.

"At the memorial site of George Floyd’s final moments, the community has come together in a galvanizing way. And the most deeply established leaders have come together to form The Coalition for Justice, Peace, & Love. Why Justice, Peace, and Love?" the petition says.

"The whole world seems to be sending and hearing mixed messages right now. Some cry for justice, while others push for peace, and still others say we should just love one another. These realities should not exist independently from each other or else our vision for change becomes simplistic and short-sighted."

Another petition that calls for justice for Floyd that was started by a 15-year-old has more than 16 million signatures and is the largest ever on, the website says.
