A crash involving a semi and a pickup proved fatal in west-central Minnesota.
The Minnesota State Patrol reports that a freightliner semi was westbound on Hwy. 2010 in Otter Tail County around 5 p.m. when it collided with an eastbound Ford pickup that crossed over the center line.
The pickup driver died in the collision. He has been identified as Jacob P. Gappa, 30, of Parkers Prairie, Minnesota. He was not wearing a seat belt, according to the crash report.
A 45-year-old Melrose man driving the semi was taken to Lake Regions Hospital with injuries that are not life-threatening.
The Office of Traffic Safety has documented 37 deaths on Minnesota roads this year. That's slightly down from 42 at the same point in 2019.
