It's a house steeped in television history, and it could be yours for a shade under $2 million.

The 9,500-square-foot home at 2104 Kenwood Parkway, Minneapolis, in the exclusive area between Lakes of the Isles and Cedar Lake, is perhaps best known for being featured in the opening sequence of "The Mary Tyler Moore Show."

The Pioneer Press notes the home served as an exterior shot for the apartment where Mary Richards "lived" in the popular 1970s show, although the interior could be found on a Californian studio set.

The Star Tribune reported the house went on the market in 2012 for $2.895 million. The asking price is now at a reduced $1.995 million, according to the listing.

The future buyers will get a lot for their money if they shell out for the sprawling home, which comes with seven bedrooms and a whopping nine bathrooms – four of which are full-sized.

The listing describes the property as having been "extensively remodeled and expanded," with "gracious public rooms ideal for entertaining," an exercise/weight room, a sauna and a triple garage.

There is still space for a plucky, jilted single woman looking to "make it on her own" on the 2nd floor, which features a guest/nanny quarters. The 3rd floor, featuring a distinctive turret, is a "multi room family living space."

Barry Berg and Chad Larsen of the Barry Berg Group with Coldwell Banker Burnet are the co-listing agents for the property. Anyone interested in it can call them at 612-925-8411 or email
