A pilot was killed in a small plane crash that was found in southwest Minnesota on Sunday morning.
The pilot was the only person flying in the Piper PA32 aircraft that crashed in a field near Windom, according to the Federal Aviation Administration. The Cottonwood County Sheriff's Office reported that the wreckage was found around 7:45 a.m.
Authorities were first alerted to the situation when Windom Municipal Airport lost radio contact was lost with the flight just after 7 a.m. The crash site was just over two miles north of the airport.
The identity of the pilot has not been released.
