A Domino's Pizza franchise owner who opened his first restaurant in Minnesota died in a plane crash in Texas Wednesday night

Bill Graves, 52, who moved to Texas from Willmar last year, died when his twin engine Cessna 441 crashed on approach to Denton Enterprise Airport around 9.10 p.m., according to Willmar Radio.

His plane had taken off from Willmar Airport at around 6.30 p.m., and conditions were reportedly foggy in Texas at the time of the crash, the radio station notes.

He was once the third-largest franchisee of Domino's Pizza restaurants in the country, operating 94 stores in nine states, having opened his first one in Willmar, which he still owns, in 1985. the West Central Tribune reports.

A graduate of the University of Georgia, he started as a driver with Domino's in 1981, the newspaper notes.

The Fort Worth Star Telegram says Graves was pronounced dead shortly after the crash.

The Federal Aviation Authority and the National Transportation Safety Board will investigate the crash.

Graves is survived by a wife and six children.
